MILLERSVILLE, Md. -  After struggling through a tough opening weekend, the Pats bounced back on Wednesday night, using a late rocket from Kevin Agostinho to slip past Cardinal Gibbons, 1-0.

The game was perhaps tougher than the Pats had expected, as the MIAA B Conference Crusaders nearly snuck out of Bob Golliday Stadium with a win of their own.  Only a few miss hits from close range and a ball cleared off the goal line kept the Pats sheet clean.

1st year Coach Nick Klug's inaugural "W" comes just 1 week before the open of league play in the county and helped to alleviate some pressure from a young squad that seemed to be pressing in the first half Wednesday night.

"We did some nice things in the first half," Klug pointed out. "But we've also got lots of guys in our team with minimal experience at this level so it may take a while for us to figure it out as a team - but we'll get there."

ALUMNI GAME ANNOUNCED ****

The 6th Annual Patriot Alumni Soccer Game will be played on Saturday, October 10th, at 12:00pm.  This year's event will again feature a field-side grill, beverages, music, and we're even trying to nail down a couple of moon bounces to occupy the kids.  So plan an afternoon for the WHOLE FAMILY, and join us on the 2nd Saturday in October for a great day of fun.

A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!

This year, the Patriot Booster Club has organized a program that rewards specific sports for their contributions to Old Mill Athletics.  Last Friday night at the Old Mill / Arundel football game, the Old Mill Soccer program's parents (current and some former) worked the concession stand to help raise money for the soccer program.  The reward?  A 20% donation of all concession sales paid DIRECTLY to the soccer program.  Our soccer parents have always mobilized every year to support the boosters and this year is obviously a continuation of that tradition!  Here is a list of ALL the participants in Friday's "soccer night" in the concession stand:

JV Parents Varsity Parents Alumni Parents
Heather Stringfield Fay Hall Lisa Murphy
Amy & Gene Kenney Dale Clark
Leann Weaver Kim Erickson
Jane LeFavor Ann Marie & Mike Matousek Booster Members
Kim & Preston Cole Debbie DiSilvestre Karen & Andy McPhail
Cheryl Orbell Lisa Howard
Dale Radcliffe Traci Toskov
Denise Kise

Thanks to everyone who sacrificed their Friday night last week to help both the Patriot Boosters, and more specifically the Patriot Soccer program.  Just 6 years ago, a huge contingent of soccer parents mobilized the community and hustled up enough momentum and support to overhaul a pitifully dangerous, dust and rock filled practice field so our team could practice and play on the gorgeous bermuda grass we have today.  It's support like that, and like your awesome efforts on Friday night at the football game that help provide our program with the things we need to help our kids succeed.

We are certainly lucky to have such support from a great group of parents, Alumni, and Administration.
